A tendency to over explain is found in all types of writing. Often checking definitions in a dictionary will improve your text. Some words stand alone and need no embellishment. Here are a few. In each of these examples, the phrase becomes shorter, while imparting precise information.
-o- TIRADE means harsh and censorious language. Therefore, it’s overkill to write, "She couldn't endure the tirade of abuse." "She couldn't endure the tirade" is enough. -o- BEST means "exceeding all others". There can be no degrees. "It was the best thing to do", not "It was the very best thing to do." -o- ELUDE means to evade or escape. Hence, "The dog eluded them and escaped into the forest" would be better written: "The dog escaped into the forest."
In a first draft, these extra words are typical, but don't let them show up in your final piece.
